Gold Melon - Photorealistic 3D Scan

Harvest! Inspired by an amazing presentation of NAB 2019, I got motivated again to do some 3D-scan works... And I think I really made something this time!

So basically, I set up a mini-studio with a turntable and green sheets, shot around 150 pictures with 5D4, which produced some 6000x4000px raw files, did some keying in AE, exported as tif files with alpha, and finally dumped them into RealityCapture.

The alignment and reconstruction process in RC took around 2-3 hours on my PC. And I was very satisfied with what I saw in the viewport. It's highly detailed without too much noise and was totally usable without any re-topology or remapping.

The final piece was rendered in Cinema 4D with Octane.

Photogrammetry is fun!
